Come Home to Your Body<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The more fully you inhabit your body, the easier it becomes to notice how much energy you have\u2014and whether something is draining it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine your energy like water stored in a reservoir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If there&#8217;s a leak, your body will usually tell you long before your mind catches up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rather than ignoring that signal, become curious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where do you feel depleted?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When did it begin?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What might your body be trying to tell you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes the &#8222;leak&#8220; itself reveals exactly what needs attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps a boundary has been crossed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps you&#8217;ve ignored an important need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or perhaps you&#8217;ve been saying <em>yes<\/em> when a wiser part of you wanted to say <em>no<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The more present you become in your body, the more quickly you&#8217;ll notice emotions such as anger, disgust, shame or a vague sense of discomfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These emotions are not your enemies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They are part of your inner guidance system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They alert you when something no longer feels right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remember that boundaries are deeply personal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only you can know what feels respectful and healthy for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your body already knows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The question is whether you&#8217;ve learned to listen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If reconnecting with your body feels difficult, begin gently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christinebraehler.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/CLEANS1.mp3\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.christinebraehler.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/CLEANS1.mp3\">short grounding <\/a>or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christinebraehler.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Feeling-Comfortable-in-Your-Skin-Compassionate-Body-Scan.mp3\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.christinebraehler.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Feeling-Comfortable-in-Your-Skin-Compassionate-Body-Scan.mp3\">body-scan meditation<\/a> &#8211; such as these ones by me &#8211; can help you feel more at home in yourself and become a wiser steward of your own energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2. Clear Your Emotional Space<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This next practice may sound odd or even magical at first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead, think of it as an intentional way of returning to yourself after spending time with others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many of us unconsciously absorb the emotional atmosphere around us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If someone is anxious, overwhelmed or distressed, our own nervous system often resonates with theirs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the end of the day, we may feel burdened without fully understanding why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s why it&#8217;s helpful to create a small ritual that marks the transition back to yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take a moment to feel the support of the ground beneath your feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Breathe deeply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then quietly say to yourself:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8222;I invite all of my energy to return to me.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cI release all energies that are not mine.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether you think of this as working with your energetic field, calming your nervous system or simply setting a clear intention doesn&#8217;t matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What matters is the experience of coming home to yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The more clearly you can distinguish your own feelings from those you&#8217;ve absorbed from others, the easier it becomes to recognise what you truly need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3. Keep an Eye on Your Energy Levels<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most of us regularly check the battery on our phone or the fuel gauge in our car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How often do we check our own energy?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three times a day, pause for a moment and ask yourself:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8222;Where is my energy right now?&#8220;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine a scale from <strong>-10<\/strong> (completely exhausted) to <strong>+10<\/strong> (fully energised).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Notice where you are without judging yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your energy is running low, ask yourself another gentle question:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8222;What would help replenish me right now?&#8220;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps you need rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fresh air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A quiet moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or perhaps what you most need is permission to be human.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To stop striving for a while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To let go of unrealistic expectations\u2014your own or other people&#8217;s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The more often you check in with yourself, the less likely you are to keep running on empty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead, you&#8217;ll gradually become more skilled at regulating your own energy before you reach the point of burnout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4. Notice Where Your Anger Goes When Someone Crosses Your Boundaries<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We often don&#8217;t know where our boundaries are until someone crosses them\u2014or until we cross them ourselves by giving too much, overcommitting or constantly trying to please others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s why irritation and anger deserve our attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Healthy anger isn&#8217;t a character flaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s one of the ways our mind and body tell us that something important needs protecting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately, many of us learned early in life that anger was unacceptable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps we were taught to be agreeable, accommodating or &#8222;the nice one.&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As adults, we may still suppress our anger because we&#8217;re afraid of conflict, rejection or hurting someone else&#8217;s feelings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But when we ignore healthy anger, we also silence one of our most important internal warning systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of protecting our life energy, we continue to give it away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next time you notice anger arising, pause before pushing it away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">See if you can feel it in your body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then ask it with genuine curiosity:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8222;What are you trying to protect?&#8220;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may discover exactly what needs your care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps it&#8217;s your time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your dignity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or a boundary that needs to be communicated more clearly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your anger doesn&#8217;t have to control your behaviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it does have something important to teach you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And remember: you cannot change another person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can only choose how you respond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>5. Speak Lovingly to the Part of You That&#8217;s Afraid<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you find it difficult to say <em>no<\/em>, stop overgiving or set healthy boundaries, it isn&#8217;t because something is wrong with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is usually a good reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From an Internal Family Systems (IFS) perspective, a protective part of you learned long ago that pleasing others was the safest option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps saying <em>yes<\/em> helped you feel loved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps it protected you from criticism or rejection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps it simply helped you survive in an environment where your needs couldn&#8217;t always come first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That part has been working hard for you for a very long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As you become more aware of the situations in which you lose your energy, you&#8217;ll also begin to recognise the part that believes it must always be kind, helpful, agreeable or self-sacrificing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rather than trying to get rid of this part, become curious about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine sitting beside it and gently asking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8222;What are you afraid would happen if you allowed me to set this boundary?&#8220;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its answers may surprise you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It may fear that people will think you&#8217;re selfish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That they&#8217;ll stop loving you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That you&#8217;ll end up alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That you&#8217;ll be criticised, rejected or punished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meet these fears with compassion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remember, this part isn&#8217;t trying to make your life difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s trying to protect you in the only way it knows how.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As you acknowledge its fears and appreciate everything it has done for you, something begins to soften.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You no longer have to fight this part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead, you can reassure it that you are no longer the child who had no choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, your wiser, more compassionate Self can take the lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reflection Questions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take a few moments to reflect on these questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Which relationships leave me feeling emotionally drained?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which relationships nourish and energise me?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which habits or activities deplete my energy? Which help restore it?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Where do I give more than I truly want to because I&#8217;m afraid of disappointing someone or losing their approval?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How would I behave differently if I fully honoured my precious life energy instead of worrying about what other people might think?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Becoming a Wise Guardian of Your Life Energy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Are you willing to let go of always being seen as endlessly kind, agreeable and self-sacrificing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And instead become known as someone who takes wise, compassionate responsibility for their own wellbeing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When we quieten the familiar voices of fear and turn inward with curiosity, we discover another voice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A wiser one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A compassionate one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A voice that wants us to flourish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your compassionate Self knows that your life energy is finite and precious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It doesn&#8217;t want you to waste it indiscriminately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It wants you to honour it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To care for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And to become a mindful guardian of the unique life you&#8217;ve been given.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Need Support on This Journey?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learning to protect your energy, set healthy boundaries and lead your life with greater self-compassion takes practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;d like guidance, my audio course <em>Loving without Losing Yourself<\/em> helps you to stop overgiving without feeling guilty (10% off with Coupon Code COURAGE).
